It's barberbeat, but at it's core it's essentially plunderphonics, exactly like Vaporwave. What he does is finding hidden gems and either slowing them down, or sampling them with various collage. You're not wrong, Macroblank probably lacks transparency in this regard. Synthpop, Synthwave, Futuresynth, Outrun, and New Retro Wave (The 80's revival genres).
