And if you die at the boss, your GS does NOT come back to you in the boss room once you get back there. And you get less QoL improvements, like - auto grave recovery is not yet a thing in Nioh 1. Level design is also much more unforgiving, with more holes on the ground, enemies coming up to surprise you, things like that. In the later difficulty levels especially, there is an extreme "kill or be killed" ethos where you bust the enemies down immediately, or you get busted down super fast yourself. Overall: Nioh 1 combat is much more busted. They also take more damage and get their Ki regen severely affected, like in Nioh 2. Confused Yokai stagger with every hit, and confused humans become super slowed. That's when you stack 2 or more elemental statuses on a foe. Particularly the gank missions where they just throw 2 bosses in and expect you to handle them lol.Ĭonfusion is much more OP. Many levels at the end (even at the end of NG, Way of the Samurai) will practically expect you to spam LW.
Living Weapon, which is the equivalent of Yokai Shift, is super broken and much easier to use. You do NOT get them by increasing proficiency. More details: įor Onmyo & Ninjutsu skill points, you get them by levelling Magic and Dex, and by obtaining the respective Locks of hair. Or just from getting Locks like in the second game. You can get them from putting points in Body, Heart, Skill or Strength when levelling (once every 2 levels in the stat), and by increasing proficiency of a weapon to certain thresholds. Skill points are obtained very differently - all weapons now use the same Samurai Skill points, meaning they are SHARED across all weapon types (no such thing as Sword skill points, Axe skill points etc). Ki Pulse only dispels yokai realm pools (dark pools on the floor) with perfect timing. No anima, burst counter, yokai abilities/soul cores.
